Restricted Fire Zone Lifted

A Restricted Fire Zone has now been lifted for the Northwest Fire Region.

The area in question ranges from the Manitoba border in the East to the western shore of the Pic River near Marathon, encompassing the Kenora, Dryden, Fort Frances Districts and southern portions of the Red Lake, Sioux Lookout, Thunder Bay and Nipigon districts. The region wide Restricted Fire Zone has been in place since May 15.

Areas of high fire hazard still exist in the region and the public is urged to heed municipal fire regulation and follow the guidelines of the Forest Fires Prevention Act, including no daytime burning.
