85th Annual Slate River Plowing Match The Rural Heritage Agricultural Society presents the 85th Annual Slate River Plowing Match. Gates open Friday, September 8 at noon, and Saturday, September 9 at 9am. The field is located at the corner of Piper Ave. and Hwy 130 in Slate River. September 8, 2017
PYRO WARS Pyro Wars will be taking place at the Murillo Fairgrounds on Saturday, September 9th. Doors open at 2pm with fireworks starting approx. 8:30 p.m. rain or shine. There will be some pyrotechnics going off during the afternoon. 3 amateur teams compete for the most explosive fireworks show, followed by a huge professional Pyroboyz show! Tickets are $7 in advance from Valley Foods/ Thunder Country Diving, or $10 at the gate. Food Vendors and Entertainment available. September 9, 2017
Rural 60 Plus Canada 150 Celebration On Saturday, September 9, 2017 from 12 noon to 5:00 pm the Rural 60 Plus Centre will be hosting a Canada 150 Celebration. There will be food, entertainment, vintage cars and fun. All rural area residents 55 and over are welcome! September 9, 2017

'All you can eat' Canadian and Finn pancakes, bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs, hash browns, coffee, tea, juice, toast and jam or try out our "Made just for you" omelette. Foul Play at the Founders' The Founder's Museum & Pioneer Village will be presenting a Whodunit Event on Friday, September 15, 2017. Doors open at 6:00 pm. There will be appetizers and dessert will be served starting at 6:30 pm. Tickets are $25/person. September 15, 2017
